Physiotherapy After A Hip Replacement

Physiotherapy After A Hip Replacement

After surgery, you will need physiotherapy to help recuperate and get mobile again. Your orthopaedic surgeon and physiotherapist will make sure you have the easiest and most comfortable transition.
Ormiston Hospital has a dedicated physiotherapist to guide you through your post operative rehabilitation.
The physiotherapist care after hip replacement provides instruction and individual exercise programs for both day stay and inpatients to ensure that each patient has a program to assist them in getting the best outcome from their surgery.
A few patients may also require physiotherapy after discharge from hospital. If this is needed it can be arranged by the hospital physiotherapist who will recommend a physiotherapy practice close to your home.

Most orthopaedic operations are associated with varying levels of pain post operatively.

Your anaesthetist and Mr French will ensure that you have adequate pain relief available to you. It is vital that you use the pain medications as prescribed so that you can more comfortably perform you physiotherapy exercise program. The “No pain – no gain” principle does NOT have to be agony!
